Volunteers play a vital role in this effort.
The Ministry’s 120-acre farm is endowed with three ponds and several streams.
In former days, forty acres were normally used for vegetable production and 60 acres for pasture. Sweet potatoes, southern peas, and butterbeans were the primary vegetable crops. Stocker calves, breaded pigs and poultry historically comprised the livestock.
The Farm also served as a model farm for farmers in the area, and the produce was sold to generate income for the ministry. It was a source of fresh vegetables for Genesis One Christian School (GOCS) and local families. Many volunteers have life-changing experiences on the farm while working with their hands and getting in touch with nature. GOCS students had field trips to the Farm and were able to experience God’s creative hand.
The Farm was a laboratory where youth were meaningfully employed while they learned discipline, the principle of ‘sowing and reaping’ and financial responsibility.
